At first glance, Black Soapstone looks simple enough - a streaky charcoal grey block of material, occasionally with a mere suggestion of white veining. What many don't realize is, since the beginning of time, soapstone has been used as a carving medium - that is, to make art, creating a catalog of human existence in images. That's all it takes, really, pressure and time, soapstone is also a symbol of metamorphosis. Itself impacted by Earth's powerful forces - tectonic plate movement, wind, rain, disturbance by humankind & animals - the resulting soapstone is an excellent material to be used in a heat-resistant setting. If you're creating a new space from the ground up, or seeking material to embody "change", why not give black soapstone a try.
